Hopewell Federal Credit Union announced the winner of its annual $1000 scholarship. This distinguished honor was awarded to Katie Gold. Gold, a recent graduate from Granville High School, will depart in the fall to attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Gold excels both academically and personally and has created a strong presence in the community. Below are just a few of her accolades.
- She is active – Participating in Girls Scouts, a host of choir organizations, 10 theatre shows, church youth group, tennis team, as well as employment at AMC Theatres, Rue 21 and Justice in Indian Mound Mall.
- She is a volunteer – Donating her time to Skate for Hope which raised over $15,000 for breast cancer research, Mike DeWine’s Teen Advisory Board and Licking County Aging Program.
- She is intelligent – Serving as a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Granville High School Democrat Club, Youth in Government and served as a mentor during her junior year to members of the freshmen class.
Applicants were asked to reflect, with either an essay or 5-minute video, on what Hopewell could do to attract Generation Z and what would be needed to increase the products and services this generation utilized. Though a strong field of applicants came forward with submissions, Ms. Gold’s video submission was a standout and chosen as the 2018 Hopewell Federal Scholarship winner.
