HUD Federal Credit Union awarded grant from NCUA

HUD Federal Credit Union recently hosted a reception at its main branch location at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s headquarters to receive a $10,000. grant award from the NCUA in recognition of their internship training program.

HUD FCU’s program is a very innovative internship, mentorship, and training program targeted toward college students and young finance professionals who have an interest in pursuing a career in the credit union industry. The program's goal is to equip individuals with the necessary skill-sets required for management-level positions within the credit union industry. Students are trained in various operational areas within the credit union while learning important leadership skills.

The program's success has been gaining recognition and last week was awarded a $10,000 leadership development grant from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), as part of the agency’s career development and essential employment training grant program.

“We are incredibly blessed to receive this highly competitive grant” said HUD FCU CEO and President Bill Kennedy. “My ultimate goal is to empower the next generation of credit union leaders with adequate training and development, while also enhancing our member service experience with their incredible energy!”

Additionally, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) awarded the credit union two scholarships for CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference and the Young Professional Advocacy Training Program in 2019.

“We greatly appreciate Secretary Carson, the NCUA and CUNA for their strong support of our training program” stated HUD FCU Chairman Terry Rouch. “Bill and his staff have developed an incredible program for improving the credit union experience not only for our own membership, but the entire industry as well.”
