TUCSON, AZ (November 12, 2018) — Hughes Federal Credit Union announces it has been honored with a prestigious Community Impact recognition from the Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) at its 11th Annual Gala on October 26 in Phoenix. In addition, Hughes marketing manager Dani Gomez was honored as an Emerging Leader at the event.
The MWCUA is the regional trade association representing 125 credit unions and 3.1 million credit union members in Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming.
“Hughes was founded in 1952 with a commitment to improve the lives of its members and the communities it serves,” Kellie Terhune Neely, vice president of marketing, said. “Today our leaders, dedicated employees and volunteer board of directors continue the rich tradition of charitable giving, volunteering, sponsoring events, hosting financial education workshops, mentoring high school and college interns, supporting local partners and so much more. We are truly honored by the MWCUA recognition. It reinforces the importance of outstanding community and member service.”
The Community Impact award recognizes a credit union for its commitment and dedication to the community it serves. Hughes placed as one of two finalists in the southwest for the Community Impact award receiving runner up for its Hughes Helps program. The Emerging Leader designation recognizes an employee who demonstrates outstanding contributions to the credit union movement, community service and leadership.
“Working for a credit union like Hughes has allowed me to harness the power of the people-helping-people philosophy and weave it into community projects that go beyond financial contributions,” Gomez said. “It’s such an incredible honor to represent Hughes and be recognized for something I’m extremely passionate about.”
Gomez has been with Hughes Federal Credit Union for three years. She has also been recognized by the 40 Under 40 Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2017, 20 Under 40 MWCUA 2017 and Top 30 Millennials by AZ Big Media in 2018.
