LAFCU’s partnership with WKAR Radio during its Spring Fundraiser resulted in the credit union donating $2,712.50 – the equivalent of 8,137 meals – to Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB).
For each donation to WKAR Radio’s fundraising annual campaign, March 14-22, LAFCU pledged an incentive of $3.50 to GLFB. A $1 gift to GLFB supports three meals to individuals and families in need in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee, Clare, Isabella and Gratiot counties.
“LAFCU’s donation to Greater Lansing Food Bank is a reflection of those in our community who support and understand the value of public radio in the Greater Lansing area,” said Patrick Spyke, LAFCU CEO. “We’re honored to help two important community organizations, which is in alignment with the credit union mission of ‘People Helping People.’”
Joe Wald, GLFB executive director, said, “We are extremely grateful for LAFCU, WKAR Radio and its donors for their help in putting food on the tables of thousands of our friends and neighbors when they are in need. This donation will make a positive difference in the lives of many in our community.”
Melissa Nay, WKAR TV/Radio director of corporate development, said, “LAFCU is instrumental in helping WKAR provide great radio programming to mid-Michigan. Our fundraising results have increased significantly since our partnership began, and our members have expressed overwhelming support for the community-minded, thank-you gift. They are thrilled that their donations not only support great programming on WKAR, but also make a difference in our community by supporting those in need. We are grateful for LAFCU’s support.”
