LBS Financial volunteers clean Long Beach coastline

Long Beach, CA (September 9, 2025) |

In partnership with the City of Long Beach’s Adopt-A-Beach initiative, volunteers from LBS Financial Credit Union took part in a beach clean-up along the Long Beach coastline on Saturday, August 16, 2025. A group of twelve volunteers, including LBS Financial employees, their families, and friends, collaborated to remove trash and debris from the sand, parking lot, pedestrian pathway, as well as the outdoor roller rink and sports court at Junipero Beach.

For over 14 years, the Credit Union has taken pride in adopting a section of the coastline between 14th Place and 19th Place off Ocean Blvd. During the latest clean-up effort, the team gathered a wide range of items, including alcohol bottles, aluminum cans, bottle caps, cigar wrappers, cigarette butts, fast food paper bags, napkins, packaging labels, permanent markers, plastic bottles, Styrofoam, utensils, zip ties, and various articles of clothing.

“Making our beaches cleaner takes all of us working together,” said LBS Financial Credit Union President & CEO, Sean Hardeman, who attended the beach clean-up.

“As a team, we were able to make a significant dent in the amount of trash on and around the beach and make it not just aesthetically better but also safer for kids,” said employee volunteer, Chinua Taylor-Pearce. “Our team was filled with a tremendous sense of motivation to come together, who collectively gathered over a dozen bags of litter during the beach clean-up.”
