LCUL Senior VP of CU Support, Susie Fair, announces retirement

HARAHAN, LA (June 9, 2020) — Following an impactful career spanning more than thirty-five years in the credit union movement, Senior Vice President of CU Support Susie Fair will be retiring from the Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL) as of July 31, 2020.

Prior to transitioning from a credit union to the state trade association, Susie started her mission in the movement at Carter’s office at International Paper in Mansfield in May 1985. Over time, she moved from a part-time receptionist to the head of Marketing.

After thirteen years with Carter FCU, the opportunity arose to spread the credit union spirit statewide with LCUL. It was then that she began her career of over twenty years of helping credit unions across Louisiana. As a consultant for the League, Susie worked hard to grow and expand training, planning, and overall engagement of Louisiana credit unions.

“This has never seemed like a job because my friends in Louisiana’s Credit unions are the best there is.  Together, we have made a difference for more than twenty years,” Fair said. “I am truly appreciative of all the opportunities the League has given me to work with credit unions in various capacities. Even though I’m formally leaving the League, I will always be their biggest promoter and supporter. Never have I felt more confident in the leadership, and I know I leave here with Louisiana credit unions in the best hands.”

As Senior Vice President of CU Support, Fair has been particularly instrumental in the growth of the Enhanced FiCEP Program, helping credit union staff become certified financial counselors. She worked with LCUL team members to develop a financial counseling solution that is now utilized by ten Leagues across the US.

Fair has been a passionate advocate for smaller credit unions, helping them survive and thrive in the ever-changing environment. Her vast knowledge afforded her the opportunity to deliver and facilitate hundreds of presentations at credit union conferences and events around the world.

“On behalf of all of us here at the League, I want to thank Susie for her unwavering dedication to our organization, its members, her colleagues, and the credit union industry. Her passion to help others has been unrivaled and her legacy will live far into the future,” said Bob Gallman, LCUL President/CEO.
