Lyn Morgan Takes the Helm of the Centra Foundation

(September 5, 2013) — Lyn Morgan has joined Centra Credit Union as President of the Centra Foundation. Morgan has worked in the not-for-profit field in Bartholomew County for almost 20 years and most recently held the position of Director of Grant Programs at Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County. She is the immediate Past President of the Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club.

“We are delighted to introduce Lyn Morgan as President of the Centra Foundation. Lyn’s experience with the Heritage Fund and knowledge of the community will provide a solid base on which to build the Centra Foundation,” said Doug Harris, Centra Credit Union President. “Together with Lyn, our members, and area residents, we can make a real difference in our communities,” added Alan Degner, Chairman of the Centra Foundation Board of Directors.

Centra Credit Union established the Centra Foundation in 2012 to further its member promise of being “Centered Around You.” Taking that philosophy one step further, the Foundation’s mission of “Centered On Caring” is to provide grants to not-for-profit organizations that help meet critical needs in the communities where Centra members and employees live and work.

Grant support focuses on financial literacy, disaster relief and improving the communities where Centra Credit Union has a presence. Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors through the Loretta Burd Scholarship Fund. The Foundation also annually awards Financial Educator of the Year grants to two K-12 teachers within Centra’s communities who provide their students with outstanding financial literacy education, teaching them how to wisely manage their money.

Recent community grants include: the People Trail – Columbus Park Foundation; Lemonade Day – Eastside Community Center;  Lifeworks Field of Dreams Playground – Scottsburg, and Independent Living Program – Clark County Youth Shelter and Family Services.

Centra Credit Union members are encouraged to join with the Credit Union in supporting the Centra Foundation in its work to address community needs.

Those interested in making donations to the Centra Foundation or seeking additional information regarding the grants program should contact Lyn Morgan at lmorgan@centra.org or call 812-314-0285.
