MCU Announces Sponsorship with New York Urban League

Credit Union to Sponsor 41st Football Classic Scheduled for Saturday, September 14th

NEW YORK, NY (September 10, 2013) — Municipal Credit Union (MCU) today announced it has reached a sponsorship agreement with the New York Urban League (NYUL).  MCU will become an official sponsor of the New York Urban League 41st Annual Football Classic. The game will take place on Saturday, September 14th at MetLife Stadium.  The NYUL Football Classic dedicates revenue towards the Whitney M. Young, Jr. scholarship fund and other NYUL educational programs that provide assistance for underserved youth in the New York area.

“MCU is proud to sponsor the 41st New York Urban League’s Football Classic,” said MCU Vice President of Business Development Corey Fernandes.  “We are honored to help support such a worthy cause that provides the underserved youth of our community with the opportunity to advance scholastically and take advantage of educational opportunities that would otherwise be financially impossible for them. We hope our support will help them reach great academic heights.”

New York Urban League Director of Development Novella Ford said, “We are excited MCU has again agreed to sponsor this year’s NYUL Football Classic.  MCU and the New York Urban League, since their respective existence, have worked to help those in need of financial assistance in the New York community.  We are confident that the commitment MCU has made to sponsoring this year’s game will help bring increased awareness to our mission of providing academic scholarship to those in need.”

As part of its sponsorship, MCU will provide tickets to 150 youths in the New York City area at the annual Football Classic. The participants in this year’s game are the Benedict College Tigers and the Virginia State University Trojans.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
