Mid American Credit Union (MACU), a member-owned financial cooperative serving more than 45,000 members and over 500 employer partners across Kansas, is proud to announce a new partnership with My First Nest Egg, a national leader in youth financial education. Founded in 1936 and guided by its commitment to “Exceeding Members Expectations,” MACU has long been dedicated to helping families achieve financial wellness. This new initiative deepens that mission by equipping the next generation with lifelong money skills.
My First Nest Egg is a family-focused financial wellness platform that brings kids, parents, and teens together to build healthy money habits. At home, families can use the chore and allowance app, interactive savings challenges, and goal-setting activities to make financial lessons practical and fun. Parents gain tools to guide conversations about spending, saving, earning, and giving, while teens can engage with resources that prepare them for real-world financial decisions. The program also extends into schools, where teachers receive free access to curriculum-aligned lessons and printable activities. A Spanish version of the family website ensures more households across the community can benefit.
“At Mid American Credit Union, we believe financial habits start young, and it’s our responsibility to help set children on the right path,” said Cameron Welch of Mid American Credit Union. “Children’s spending habits are formed very early in life, most never getting the chance to establish good habits. We want to change the way children approach their interaction with finances and money, and My First Nest Egg has the right approach and content to help us serve the community.”
With more than 1,450 youth accounts already established and branch locations across Wichita, Arkansas City, Lawrence, Overland Park, and Hutchinson, MACU has a longstanding tradition of investing in young members and their families. By introducing My First Nest Egg, MACU is providing more than just products—it is giving families an ongoing experience that supports money conversations at home and learning in the classroom.
This launch is supported by a Cornerstone Foundation Community Development Grant, which helps credit unions implement innovative financial literacy programs across their communities. With this support, MACU is able to provide full access to the platform free of charge to its members and local schools, multiplying its community impact.
