Mid-Atlantic Corporate FCU Increases Support of Filene with New Gold Benefactor Relationship

MADISON, WIMid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union, a longtime contributor to the Filene Research Institute, significantly increased its support of the Institute’s work. Jay Murray, president/CEO of Mid-Atlantic Corporate, says Filene shares the Corporate’s commitment to the credit union model – particularly the desire to help improve the economic wellbeing of people and their communities.

“The Filene team has influenced our strategic thinking,” Murray said. “We have discovered new ideas, and created partnerships to advance the credit union cause. I find the interactions with the Filene team, the nationally recognized universities and the participating credit unions a tremendous benefit to our organization.” Filene has been collaborating with Mid-Atlantic Corporate on internal strategic plans.

“As credit unions’ think-and-do tank, we rely not just on the financial support but also on the engagement of our credit union benefactors,” said Mark Meyer, CEO of Filene. “We have had many productive discussions about opportunities for the future of credit unions with the Mid-Atlantic board and staff, which has helped us form ideas and innovations for credit unions,” Meyer said.

Mid-Atlantic Corporate has participated in a number of Filene projects including:

  • The Filene i3 pilot program exploring a variation of the MoneyWorks program, now known as the Gatherings program, a direct sales model of financial services in a home party environment
  • Filene i3 and big.bright.minds meetings where they participated in innovation and research programming

Future projects include sponsorship of a Filene research report to be determined in collaboration with Mid-Atlantic Corporate. Murray will also serve as a mentor at the upcoming fall Filene i3 meeting.
