Mid-Atlantic Corporate Hits Hole in One for Children’s Miracle Network
Annual charity golf tournament raises $11,500 for children’s hospital
MIDDLETOWN, PA (June 27, 2013) Who was the big winner of Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union’s 2013 Charity Golf Tournament held June 20, 2013? Children receiving care through Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals. CMN conducts research and training, purchases equipment, and helps pay for uncompensated care in support of its mission to save and improve children’s lives.
Since 2008, member credit unions and various business partners of Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union have raised funds to support CMN through the Corporate’s charity golf tournament, held in conjunction with its Annual Meeting. This year’s donation – $11,500 – combines with past proceeds to total over $67,000 in financial support given to the charitable organization over the years.
“The golf tournament is a favorite event each summer for our members and business partners alike,” said Rodney May, SVP, member services for Mid-Atlantic Corporate. “It’s an opportunity to have fun and network with colleagues; but it’s most important role is bringing the credit union community together to raise money for a critically important cause.”
The event’s beneficiary, Children’s Miracle Network, is a favorite cause for many of America’s credit unions. The organization is affiliated with 170 children’s hospitals across the country. Participating Pennsylvania CMN hospitals include the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville; The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie; Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh; and Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital – where the proceeds from the Corporate’s tournament will support.
May says the golf tournament’s success is largely due to the generous support of many sponsors. “We could not do it without them,” he says, “and each year, they more than rise to the occasion to help with our efforts.”
