Missouri Valley Federal Credit Union Hosts Family Fun Day, Supports Community

While having fun in the sun, Missouri Valley members demonstrated the credit union philosophy of people helping people by donating canned goods for local food pantry.

ST. PETERS, MO (July 27, 2013) — Missouri Valley Federal Credit Union (MOVFCU) and its members enjoyed a day of fun in the sun at MOVFCU’s 2nd annual Family Fun Day.  Thanks to the generous donations of over 100 members, MOVFCU was able to donate five boxes of non-perishable food items to Operation Food Search.

On Saturday, July 27th Missouri Valley Federal Credit Union invited members and the surrounding community to a day of completely free summer fun including; a barbecue, live music, face painting, snow cones, a bounce house and water activities for kids.  The event is designed as a way for families to come and spend the afternoon completely free of charge as a thank you for their membership in the credit union.  And there was much to celebrate at this year’s event not the least of which was the credit union’s launch of Kasasa Cash, a checking account that rewards members with an APY of 2.51%: 62 times the national average paid on checking accounts*.

In the middle of the fun and celebration was something even more important, the members displaying the credit union philosophy of people helping people, by donating canned goods for a local food pantry.  A donation was not required to attend the event, just a suggestion from the credit union after hearing how many local food banks and shelters were running desperately low on food.  Missouri Valley President and CEO, Josh Rodriguez, believes it’s important to have fun and do something helpful at the same time.  “We love to have fun and celebrate with our members, but it’s always important to keep the true spirit of credit unions at the forefront.  It is important to us to support our community for supporting us,” said Rodriguez.  Compliance and Community Development Director Sarah Rehkop agrees, “We are so proud that our members are always willing to help in the community, whether it’s raising funds for a good cause, making donations, or giving their time, our members always come through.”

At the end of the afternoon, the credit union had over five boxes of food to donate to Operation Food Search.
