MSUFCU Hosts Blue Mondays featuring Peter Bernstein

EAST LANSING, MI (March 16, 2015) — On Monday, March 2, 2015, MSU Federal Credit Union held its sixth Blue Mondays concert at MSUFCU Headquarters. MSUFCU members and the community enjoyed an evening of music, featuring jazz guitarist, Peter Bernstein.

Blue Mondays is a jazz concert series made possible by MSUFCU and the MSU College of Music as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Jazz Artist in Residence Program. During his residency, Bernstein performed for the public and community as part of this partnership, which invests in the college’s curriculum and serves as a means to enhance middle and high school music programs across the state.

Blue Mondays continues to gain momentum with each concert,” said, MSUFCU’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We’re proud to be involved with a program that brings the fine arts to our community and provides inspiration for up-and-coming musicians.

Blue Mondays will resume in the 2015-2016 academic year, with artists and concert dates to be determined. More information on upcoming concerts can be found at www.music.msu.edu.

Peter Bernstein has participated in more than 80 recordings and numerous performances with musicians from all generations. As a leader, he has released nine (9) albums and a DVD. While attending the New School he met legendary guitarist Jim Hall, who noted that Bernstein “…is the most impressive guitarist I’ve heard.” Peter was a regular member of Lou Donaldson’s group throughout the 1990s. “Some people just have it,” Donaldson said. “…most of the time you have to teach someone what to do, but Peter knows it all.” Bernstein’s recent release, Solo Guitar – Live at Smalls, is an intimate recording that seems as if you’re sitting in the front row at Smalls jazz club in New York City.
