MSUFCU receives the 2018 Editor’s Choice™ Award for community involvement from CardRates

MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) has earned the Editor’s Choice™ Award for community involvement from CardRates.com, which informs and educates consumers about credit cards and encourages better credit decisions. This award recognizes the Credit Union for building a workplace culture where employee-approved corporate philanthropy, financial education, and volunteerism go hand-in-hand with providing superior member service.

“Giving back to our communities is one of MSUFCU’s core values,” said Deidre Davis, MSUFCU’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We invest in our communities in a variety of ways. We support organizations that create a greener Michigan, provide therapy for child victims of abuse, build homes for those in need, support families with life-threatening illnesses, and so much more. Our support helps strengthen communities, educate and encourage underserved populations, and empower others to make a positive difference.”

In 2017, MSUFCU donated more than $2.2 million and 1,200 employee volunteer hours to more than 500 organizations.  Employees also raised more than $170,000 for MSUFCU’s charity partners and expect to donate even more in 2018.

To better coordinate its charitable contributions, the Credit Union recently initiated a CU Involved program. Each year, MSUFCU employees increase the number of no-cost financial education sessions for community members of all ages. These sessions focus on helping people make better informed decisions about their economic well-being.
