Municipal Credit Union launches MCU Member Service Van

Vehicle provides members with on-site services at work and in community

NEW YORK, NY (August 2, 2018) — Municipal Credit Union (MCU) is hitting the road to better serve members, with the launch of its new MCU Member Service Van. The customized vehicle, fully equipped with an office for members to conduct non-cash banking transactions, will be deployed to a variety of membership and community locations throughout New York City.

“MCU is thrilled to bring services to our members and the New York City community via our MCU Member Service Van,” said Corey Fernandes, MCU Vice President of Business Development/Member Relations, who is leading the credit union’s efforts in operating and managing the vehicle. “This van will help provide greater convenience for our growing membership and provide us with a great opportunity to engage with both members and our community at activities throughout the city.”

The MCU Member Service Van was conceptualized and designed to supplement MCU’s branch network and provide members with busy work and personal lives a convenient opportunity to conduct their business with MCU. Members visiting the MCU Member Service Van will be able to open new accounts, make changes to payroll and direct deposits, apply for loans, and have access to financial education resources. Additionally, the van will become a staple at MCU-sponsored events and community activities in all five boroughs, allowing for new memberships to be set up with MCU representatives on site.

“With more than 500,000 members living and working in the New York City area, and many more New Yorkers eligible for membership at MCU, we wanted to find a unique and exciting way to bring banking services directly to them,” said MCU Acting President/CEO Norman Kohn.  “The MCU Member Service Van is the perfect embodiment of our mission to serve members and provide the credit union difference of personal service to our members and giving back to our community.”
