The Mountain West Credit Union Association has announced its fall “Hike the Hill” series, called “DC From Your Desk.” The series includes virtual meetings with legislators, regulatory agencies and other opportunities as they arise throughout September and October. The ability to pivot has become the norm during the past several months. Because of this, MWCUA’s annual “in-person” fall “Hike the Hill” has been retooled into a virtual format.
The fall hikes are the trips where the MWCUA Government Affairs team typically takes smaller groups of CEOs, executives and young professionals to DC to keep the credit union message front and center while mixing in meetings with regulatory agencies and other opportunities to take a deep dive into the workings of our Nation’s Capitol.
“These uniquely challenging times presents an opportunity for credit union professionals who’ve always wanted to advocate to do so without leaving home,” said Tim Dore, SVP Government Affairs for MWCUA. “Because of COVID, people can participate without traveling, so we’re able to connect legislators with more advocates from our region, giving us a strong voice to deliver the credit union message.”
The series includes upcoming sessions with Colorado Representative Jason Crow (D), and Wyoming Senatorial candidate (and former State Representative) Cynthia Lummis (R), with more in the works.
