Neighbors CEO Steve Webb places 3rd in BRCAC’s Celebrity Waiter Fundraiser
BATON ROUGE, LA (August 19, 2020) — Neighbors President and CEO Steve Webb raised the 3rd most “tips” during the Baton Rouge Children Advocacy Center’s 14th annual Celebrity Waiter Event. Webb’s efforts raised placing just behind the LSU Golden Girls and Marketa Walters of Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. The virtual event was streamed via Zoom and Facebook Live, raising more than $70,000 through sponsorship, raffle ticket sales, a silent auction and virtual “tipping.”
Usually held at Baton Rouge’s L’Auberge Casino in July, the event was postponed and then switched to a virtual format due to the coronavirus pandemic. Other Celebrity Waiters included EBR Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, retiring LSU Gymnastics Coach D-D Breaux, East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore, LSU Baseball Coach Paul Mainieri, and many more.
“I’m very proud of our efforts to support such a worthy cause,” Webb said. “Now more than ever children suffering from trauma need our support.”
The Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center opened in 2002. As the sole agency providing immediate interventions for children exposed to traumatic events in the Capital Region, BRCAC serves the community’s most vulnerable children. The Center, a restored Victorian home, provides a warm, safe environment for victims and their families to utilize for all their recovery needs in the aftermath of traumatic events.
Neighbors Vice President of Marketing Brett Reynolds has served as a board member of the Advocacy Center for the last eight years and was named Board President in December 2019.
“The coronavirus pandemic has created a huge increase in the need for abuse trauma intervention and therapeutic services in our area,” said Reynolds. “We provide these services almost entirely through fundraising. The success of this event, considering today’s fundraising environment and our first-ever virtual venue is a testament to the dedication of the Center staff and the outpouring of support coming from our community.”
