Neighbors FCU named 29th Best Credit Union to Work For nationwide

BATON ROUGE, LA (September 26, 2018) — Neighbors was named one of the 2018 Best Credit Unions to Work For by the Credit Union Journal. CU Journal partnered with Best Companies Group to identify companies that have excelled in creating quality workplaces for employees.

Neighbors placed 29th nationally and 8th among its asset size category. Neighbors made the list in great part due to the efforts of Team Impact. Team Impact is a volunteer group of employees that gather to host events for employees and their families.

Team Impact orchestrated many enjoyable employee activities such as the annual Mardi Gras Ball, Movie Night on the Lawn, Neighbors Friends and Family Day and a variety of fun work days featuring free ice cream, snowballs, popcorn and more.

“Being one of the best institutions to work for has a lot to do with each and everyone that calls Neighbors home,” Neighbors CEO and President Steve Webb said. “The friendships, respect and comradery that we experience every day makes Neighbors a special place.”

This list was comprised of two key elements:

  • 25 percent of the credit union workplace policies, practices and demographics
  • 75 percent employee survey responses

This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best credit unions. The 2018 list is made up of 50 credit unions. You can learn more about this list at

About Neighbors Federal Credit Union

Neighbors Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative operating as an  association dedicated to "people helping people." A handful of educators started Baton Rouge  Teachers in 1954 with a shoe box, a couple hundred dollars and the goal of making financial  services available to school system employees in our area.   Now, Neighbors Federal Credit Union is the largest community-chartered credit union in the  state of Louisiana with over 76,000 members and over $1 billion in assets. Since that time,  Neighbors has undergone a variety of changes, but the mission has stayed the same: Enhance  members' financial well-being and be a partner in the communities Neighbors serves.
