SCRANTON, PA (December 13, 2018) — NET Credit Union donated $15,000 to two local charities: The Ronald McDonald House of Scranton and The Jude Zayac Foundation. NET hosted two fundraisers; all proceeds raised went towards these two charities. The first fundraiser was our second annual, Cornhole Tournament, held at The Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel. NEPA Cornhole helped run the event. The second fundraiser was our fifth annual, NEToberfest, held at Pine Hills Country Club. Each year, NET Credit Union focuses on local children charitiesto donate to. The Ronald McDonald House and The Jude Zayac Foundation are both deserving organizations.
The Ronald McDonald House first opened their doors in 1986 and never shut them since. Families with sick children are able to stay at the house throughout their child’s hospital stay. The house not only provides a place a sleep to and to eat, but it also provides a warm positive energy to help the families cope during tough times. The doors of The Ronald McDonald House in Scranton continue to stay open because of the devoted employees and volunteers.
The Jude Zayac Foundation was founded by Theo and Greg Zayac after the sudden death of their infant son, Jude, from SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The foundation honors Jude by fighting and protecting other babies from this devastating syndrome. The couple’s mission is to support SIDS research and enrich the lives of local children. Each year, the Jude Zayac Foundation hosts a 5K run/walk named Jog for Jude to help raise awareness and funds for SIDS efforts. The Zayac’s turned this unfortunate event into a celebration to promote SIDS awareness and to provide the community with a day of family fun.
