LAS VEGAS, NV (November 14, 2023) — Clark County Credit Union (CCCU) located in Southern Nevada, was recognized by the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues with an Advocacy Award. Each year, the Leagues evaluate local member-owned credit unions for the work done to educate legislators, the governor’s office, and policymakers on financial topics that impact their communities.
Credit Unions that dedicate their time and resources to advocacy promote the values and principles of the credit union movement. For example, CCCU’s President and CEO Matt Kershaw recently supported a bill that led to expanded loan access.
“This legislation will allow the members of federal credit unions greater access to affordable lending products with reasonable lending terms,” Kershaw said. “Providing increased maturity rates allows for lower payments and increases access and affordability to the market, for all consumers.”
The credit union has regularly engaged with policymakers such as US Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, US Senator Jacky Rosen, and other elected officials and key stakeholders to educate them about the benefits of credit unions and the role they play in their communities. In addition, the credit union ensures individuals and families have the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions regarding their finances. It is the credit union’s mission to help its members realize their financial goals and dreams.
