New ECCU Gull Road Branch Now Open

KALAMAZOO, MI (July 22, 2013) — Educational Community Credit Union (ECCU) celebrated the grand opening of its new Gull Road Branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, July 22, 2013, with ECCU staff and Board of Directors, local business and community leaders in attendance to celebrate. LEVEL5,a consulting and facilities development firm that works exclusively with financial institutions across the United States, provided site selection, due diligence and acquisition services for the new branch which is located at 5991 Gull Road in Kalamazoo.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off the weeklong Grand Opening celebration, which included daily drawings of $59.91 cash and local business gift cards, a piggy bank filled with coins for youth to guess the amount inside, a Facebook photo contest, free ice cream provided by Cool Mama’s, food served by The Organic Gypsy, and a live radio broadcast from 107.7 WRKR featuring the Rocker Classic Car Giveaway. Grand Opening week concluded on Saturday, July 27, with a spinning prize wheel, a bounce house for youth, a photo booth, and grand prize drawings of an Apple iPad® and a three-month membership to Borgess Health And Fitness Center.

“We are so excited for our new branch,” says Tammy Phelps, Vice President Operations. “It allows us to provide members with an even more personal experience, from greeting them at the door when they first arrive to a more intimate transaction experience thanks to a barrier-free service area. If anything, it raises the bar in terms of providing an extraordinary member experience.”

Built around the principle of welcoming people into a space that feels comfortable and inviting, the new Gull Road Office includes a fireplace, children’s play area and an exhibit of local works of art by area students. The branch also offers a deposit-taking drive-up ATM, a night depository with business bag feature, a financial services advisor, and plenty of parking.

“The new Gull Road Branch signifies our growth and dedication to our members and the Kalamazoo community,” said Charles Cornelius, ECCU President and CEO. “We are happy to meet the demand for a new and improved space to allow for even greater service where members can feel right at home.”

The Gull Road lobby hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM Saturday. Drive-through hours extend to 6:00 PM on Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday.
