New eSchool offers five-step approach to investments

MADISON, WI (May 15, 2015) – Credit union financial professionals will learn the basics of investing during the CUNA Fundamentals of Investment Management eSchool this summer.

Over the course of ten weeks, participants will develop a sound investment policy using a five-step approach to portfolio management. Each 90-minute session, taught by industry experts such as Brian Hague of the Rochdale Group, discusses an important investment aspects, allowing attendees to develop a working understanding of the entire investment process.

  • Fundamentals of Return Measurement: July 13
  • Fundamentals of Risk Measurement: July 20
  • Introduction to the Portfolio Management Process; Investment objectives/Policy: July 27
  • Fundamentals of Economic Analysis & Investment Strategy:August 3
  • Security Selection – Overnight Funds & Bullets: August 10
  • Security Selection – Callables & Structured Notes: August 17
  • Security Selection – Fixed-rate Mortgage-backed Securities: August 24
  • Security Selection – Collateralized Mortgage Obligations: August 31
  • Monitoring and Rebalancing the Portfolio & Operational Considerations: September 8
  • The Portfolio in the Context of Balance Sheet & Enterprise Risk (Including the Role of the Board): September 14

After completing CUNA Fundamentals of Investment Management eSchool, participants are encouraged to travel to Phoenix for the new CUNA Investment Certification School: Advanced Investment Strategies, October 21-23, 2015. At the school, attendees will further their investment expertise and earn their Credit Union Investment Expert (CUIE) designations.
