New Horizons Credit Union presents $1000 check to Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation from employee fund raising efforts
MOBILE, AL (December 13, 2018) — New Horizons Credit Union presented a check for $1000.00 to Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation, which raises awareness and support for families with children suffering from cancer, from employee fund raising efforts held during 2018. This check accounts for a total of $3,000 contributed to Jensen’s Heart of Golf during the year.
Giving back to the community is important for New Horizons Credit Union. Since the beginning of 2018, New Horizons Credit Union employees have been raising funds for Jensen’s Heart of Gold primarily with special jeans days. This non-profit organization was chosen based on the results of an annual internal staff survey. Each year, New Horizons Credit Union employees select the Corporate Charities they want to see their Credit Union support. For 2018, Jensen’s Heart of Gold was selected as one of the Corporate Charities.
Jensen’s Heart of Gold is a non-profit organization that provides, “Awareness, advocacy, and hope for childhood cancer cure,” as explained by Melissa Byrd, President & Founder. Their goal is to provide financial relief for expenses that medical insurance doesn’t cover, educate parents with the resources that are available, and support a memorial scholarship program for high school seniors setting their sights on a medical career. One of their major events to raise awareness and funds is their September Super Slugger Softball tournament held at the Gulf Shores Sports plex which hosts over 50 teams. New Horizons Credit Union was there presenting fund raising efforts as well.
