New youth account members receive free Grand Rapids Children’s Museum passes

For more than 25 years, the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum (GRCM) has been centered around children learning through play. It is this philosophy, and the museum’s important role in the community, that prompted Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) to establish a partnership with GRCM. As part of this collaboration, MSUFCU members will receive two free GRCM passes for each new youth account opened at its Grand Rapids location at 86 Monroe Center through June 30, 2019.

“We understand the value of play as a primary way children learn new skills,” said Deidre Davis, MSUFCU chief marketing officer. “Our youth accounts come with access to free, interactive, educational gaming apps so children and youth can learn financial lessons as they play. The partnership with the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum allows the credit union to both support and promote this great organization.”

In 1997, GRCM opened its doors at 11 Sheldon Ave. NE and hosted more than 30,000 children and their families who experienced hands-on exploration and learning. Today, the museum has multiple exhibits and more than 200,000 visitors annually.

“Having grown up in the Lansing area, I saw firsthand the relationship MSUFCU has with the community,” said Maggie Lancaster, CEO of GRCM. “To see them now extending their civic-focused mission here in Grand Rapids is just thrilling. We are honored to partner with a longstanding, community-minded business that strives to support families, and values the importance and power of play.”

MSUFCU youth accounts provide the tools and resources to start the savings process and make learning financial basics fun. There are five youth accounts, each designed for different age groups up to 17 years old. For more information, visit msufcu.org.
