Northwest Federal CU sponsors first Ice Breaker Family Fun Run 5K

Town of Herndon launches event as first run of the season

Herndon, VA (March 7, 2015) — Northwest Federal Credit Union is hosting the Town of Herndon’s first-ever “Ice Breaker Family Fun Run,” a 5K scheduled for Sunday, March 22. The event begins at 8 a.m., at Northwest Federal’s headquarters branch at 200 Spring Street in Herndon, and runs through scenic areas of the Town and the Sugarland Run Trail. The finish line takes runners back to the Credit Union.

“We’re delighted to host Herndon’s first Ice Breaker 5K Run,” said Chris McDonald, President/CEO of Northwest Federal Credit Union. “Taking an active part in the areas we serve is integral to Northwest Federal’s mission to support and participate in our local communities, and this new run promises to be an enjoyable event for everyone.”

In addition to the branch on Spring Street, Northwest Federal just opened a second Herndon branch on Jan. 31, in the Village Center area. It is the Credit Union’s seventh full-service location.

“Northwest Federal is committed to both making a difference in members’ lives and investing in our local neighborhoods,” he said. “Having a second Herndon branch will allow us to reach more people and help them succeed financially.”

The Town of Herndon plans the Ice Breaker 5K Family Fun Run as an annual event, with more than 600 residents from area schools expected to take part in the first run. The 5K also is the first race of 2015 for Herndon’s Parks and Recreation series. Race applications and information are available at both Herndon branches.
