One Nevada Credit Union supports Family Resource Center after burglary

LAS VEGAS, NV (June 19, 2018) — Last week, the Washoe County School District’s central Reno Family Resource Center was broken into and vandalized. The vandals took bus passes, taxi vouchers, Walmart gift cards, quarters, and savers vouchers along with electronics and computer equipment. One Nevada is donating $2,000 to the Family Resource Center so they can begin to recover from this nefarious act and continue serving those in need. With the donation, One Nevada is challenging other businesses and community leaders to also step-up and donate.

The Family Resource Center serves children, teens, parents, single adults, and seniors. The center offers food programs, employment assistance, parenting education, adult literacy and English classes, financial literacy and credit counselling, utility assistance, help with finding housing, medical, dental and mental health services. The center houses many other organizations including the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Food and Nutrition Service office, Head Start Program, early childhood education classes, and the care center for teen mom’s babies so they can focus on school.

“One Nevada is glad to lend a helping hand to the Family Resource Center. We were sad to hear about the burglary and that they damaged a whole building of offices filled with people that make a difference in our community and are there to help people in need,” said Lisa Jansen, Assistant Vice President of Community Relations at One Nevada. “We hope other people in our community will also come forward to donate and support this vital community organization.”

The Washoe County School District Family Resource Center helps individuals and families access needed services and support, for more information about their programs call (775) 321-3185. Donations can be mailed to WCSD Family Resource Center, 1950 Villanova Drive, Reno, NV 89502.
