Orange County’s Credit Union assists in providing affordable housing to Irvine residents

Orange County Financial Service Provider Partners with Irvine Community Land Trust to Support The Sage Park Project, A Solution in a Challenging Housing Market

Orange County’s Credit Union, a Santa Ana-based financial services provider with more than 120,000 Members, has partnered with Irvine Community Land Trust  to support Sage Park, the newest affordable ownership housing development in Irvine, CA. In its first-time partnership with the Irvine Community Land Trust, Orange County’s Credit Union underscores its dedication to supporting Orange County residents with housing solutions and increasing accessibility to the housing market.

With Irvine and Orange County being one of the most expensive places to live, moderate- and low-income Orange County families are finding it difficult to afford housing. The Sage Park development consists of 68 affordable for-sale townhomes located in the Portola Springs area of Irvine, and has convenient access to 133 and Portola Parkway. Following a multi-step application and vetting process to confirm eligibility, the already selected individuals of these 68 townhomes will become residents with options of different floor plans, bedroom counts and more, and will be able to enjoy numerous common amenities.

Committed to making housing more accessible, Orange County’s Credit Union has assisted dozens of Irvine residents with moderate- and low-income designations with specifically tailored home loan options to make homeownership more accessible through Sage Park. The Credit Union and ICLT have also partnered with NeighborWorks Orange County, which provided housing counseling for all Sage Park residents. NeighborWorks, a local nonprofit, provides lending, realty, and educational tools to ensure your home is a wealth-building financial asset, not a liability. .

“As the only Credit Union headquartered in Orange County with a Community Development Financial Institution designation, it is our duty to create specific solutions to help our local community members overcome hardships and financial challenges.” said Carlos Miramontez, Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Orange County’s Credit Union. “We know that having a place to call home is essential for quality of life, so with this new Sage Park Project, it has been a privilege to help new homeowners find a home and lower the barriers to homeownership.”

With a mission to increase affordable housing options, Orange County’s Credit Union is committed to continuing to partner and collaborate with various cities and nonprofit organizations in efforts to help more Southern California residents find affordable housing.
