Orange County’s Credit Union to host Shred and eWaste Day fundraising event benefiting Children’s Health of Orange County on April 22

Santa Ana-Based Credit Union Hosts Complimentary Shred and eWaste Day Fundraiser in Honor of Earth Day

SANTA ANA, CA (April 11, 2023) — Orange County’s Credit Union, a Santa Ana-based financial services provider with more than 120,000 Members, will celebrate Earth Day with a special Shred and eWaste Day fundraising event on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at 1721 E. St. Andrew Pl., Santa Ana, CA. Held in partnership with Shred Confidential and California Electronics Recycler, the event will allow Members to safely recycle their unwanted documents and electronic waste while benefiting Children’s Health of Orange County (CHOC).

“Orange County’s Credit Union is grateful to provide our community the opportunity to protect themselves from identity theft by shredding and securely discarding any unwanted personal information documents, as well as to ensure that all materials are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner,” shared Amber Cisneros, Chief Member Experience Officer at Orange County’s Credit Union. “We’re delighted to lend a helping hand and raise funds for an organization that is very near and dear to our Credit Union. Every donation, no matter how large or small, makes a difference for children in Orange County.”

Members can bring their personal documents such as mail, old bank statements, paycheck stubs, credit cards and more, to be securely shredded (limit two banker boxes per person). In addition, electronic waste items such as cell phones, televisions, computers, printers, hard drives and other electronics can also be dropped off for proper recycling. All approved recycled materials will be redeemed for a cash donation with the proceeds benefiting the CHOC KidsCARE fund, which allows CHOC care teams to address the medical challenges of kids and families as they arise from under-insured patients to innovating new cancer treatments. Guests will also have the opportunity to give individual donations and take a photo with CHOC’s beloved mascot CHOCO Bear.

Since 2011, Orange County’s Credit Union and its Shred and eWaste events have had a positive impact on the local community by providing Members with a safe and cost-free way to dispose of sensitive personal information while also supporting the exceptional work of community partner CHOC. This initiative is part of the Credit Union’s mission to provide financial education, security, and resources to its Members.
