Pelican State CU busts credit union myths in new eBook

BATON ROUGE, LA (September 18, 2018) — “I didn’t know you did that!” That’s a phrase regularly heard in the credit union industry, and it’s no surprise—there are a lot of myths out there about credit unions!

In an effort to help educate the community, Pelican State CU wrote and released a 28-page eBook detailing 22 credit union myths and the facts that disprove them.

There are numerous myths out there, including misconceptions that credit unions:

  • Have fewer locations than banks
  • Aren’t regulated by the government
  • Don’t pay any taxes
  • Only offer savings accounts
  • Don’t protect your information like banks do
