PenFed Foundation’s 14th Annual Night of Heroes Gala to honor veterans and community supporters

TYSONS, VA (May 1, 2018) — On May 2, the PenFed Foundation will host its 14th Annual Night of Heroes Gala, one of Washington’s premier fundraising events for our nation’s defenders. The gala will honor U.S. Army Master Sgt. (Ret.) and Purple Heart recipient Cedric King, who has inspired veterans with his example of perseverance and support for other wounded warriors, and National Baseball Hall of Famer Tony La Russa for his work saving the lives of veterans by providing them with service dogs through his Animal Rescue Foundation’s “Pets for Vets” program. The event will also recognize CEO of Allied Solutions Pete Hilger and his wife, Debbie Hilger, for their extraordinary contributions to the military community. Nearly a dozen service dogs will be recognized for their work in providing independence and other support to veterans.

Who: Honorees and speakers include National Baseball Hall of Famer Tony La Russa, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, U.S. Army Master Sgt. (Ret.) and Purple Heart recipient Cedric King, Emmy Award-winning WUSA9 reporter Andrea McCarren, CEO of Allied Solutions Pete Hilger and his wife, Debbie Hilger.

Why: Last year’s gala raised nearly $1.5 million in one evening. All proceeds go towards establishing a stable financial future for more than 35,000 veterans, active military members and their families each year.
