Point Breeze Credit Union and the Kahlert Foundation make donations to the Friends of Disabled American Veterans in Carroll County

HUNT VALLEY, MD (October 5, 2020) — Point Breeze Credit Union has made a $15,000 donation to the Friends of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Carroll County. The donation will fund the purchase and conversion of a van to provide transportation services to disabled veterans.

The Friends of DAV is a Carroll County-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides health services for veterans. The organization serves the 14,000 veterans in Carroll County by providing free non-emergency transportation to medical and dental treatments.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to help the Friends of DAV purchase a van so disabled veterans can access much-needed transportation services and benefits,” said Michael J. Gallagher, Vice Chairman of Point Breeze Credit Union, a veteran and a long-time, active member of the Carroll County community. “At Point Breeze, we are committed to serving our veterans and working to make a significant impact in their lives.”

The Kahlert Foundation, a charitable organization that provides funding across five main areas of focus including health care, youth programs, education, veteran organizations, and human services, also made a $45,000 grant to the Friends of DAV in Carroll County. Part of this grant money helped to purchase the van and a wheelchair ramp.

“At the Kahlert Foundation, we are passionate about providing grants to non-profit organizations to improve the quality of life and well-being of the community,” said Greg W. Kahlert, President of the Kahlert Foundation. “The Friends of DAV is an amazing organization that truly improves the lives of veterans. They could not be more deserving of a van to expand services to veterans in Carroll County.”
