PSCU to Host Second Annual KnockOut Collaboration Event

Registration Open for Competitive 24-Hour Innovation Summit

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (July 15, 2013) — Online registration (www.pscuknockout.com) is now open for PSCU’s second annual competitive thinkfest, KnockOut 2013. The 24-hour brainstorming and innovation summit, open to employees of the CUSO and its Member-Owner Credit Unions, is scheduled for September 26-27 at PSCU’s St. Petersburg, FL, headquarters.

The collaborative event features five-person teams with each team seeking to create a working prototype of a cutting-edge solution or service that will help credit unions grow and prosper. A panel of judges from PSCU’s strategic partners will evaluate the teams’ concept submissions and select three finalists. PSCU employees and the participating credit union teams will vote to determine the final team rankings and prize winners.

“Last year’s KnockOut showed this is an ideal format for the brightest minds in our business to gather, dream big, act and become the future for credit unions,” said Michael J. Kelly, PSCU President & CEO. “This event showcases the cooperative credit union spirit in a friendly and collaborative, yet competitive environment. KnockOut 2013 promises to deliver yet another round of bold ideas that can help our credit unions and their members.”

KnockOut teams use the 24-hour event timeframe to ideate, design and present a prototype solution to the judges that demonstrates function, feasibility, industry impact, time to market, cost and ROI. KnockOut event organizers will help populate teams with participants as needed. Team members can contribute remotely if necessary to accommodate travel challenges. The rules for KnockOut 2013 specify that no solution development is allowed prior to the event – all planning, coding and prototype development must occur within the 24-hour KnockOut period.

As host, PSCU provides participating teams with the technology platform, food, beverages and recreational diversions to keep teams alert and productive around the clock. Last year’s inaugural edition of the KnockOut featured 21 teams and ultimately crowned two event co-champions.
