Rangel named as Chair of National Association of Credit Union Chairmen
37-year-old Organization Provides Networking, Support and Education for Credit Union Chairmen
SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 01, 2013) — The National Association of Credit Union Chairmen has announced that Rose Rangel has been named as the Chairman of the Board. Founded in 1976, the NACUC is the only national trade organization that is dedicated to the development of credit union board chairmen through education and networking programs.
Rangel currently serves as Chairman of the Board for San Antonio-based Generations Federal Credit Union and has been involved with NACUC for more than 11 years having previously served as Secretary, Treasurer, Second Vice-Chair and First Vice-Chair.
“With the changing face of the financial industry it is critical that we, as Board Chairs, adapt to stay ahead of the trends. The NACUC serves as an outlet and a resource for credit union Chairmen to bring their experience, mentorship, suggestions and ideas to other Board Chairs. This kind of leadership and exchange of ideas is what will keep credit unions thriving for generations to come,” said Rangel.
Rangel was appointed to the GFCU Board of Directors in 1997 and assumed the role of Chairman in 2003. In 2012, she spearheaded the initiative to establish the NACUC Norma Benson Memorial Scholarship Program which provides financial assistance for Chairmen from small credit unions across the country to attend NACUC events. Unlike for-profit financial institutions, all credit union board of directors serve in a volunteer capacity and are not paid for their service.
Generations Federal Credit Union was founded in 1940 and has a rich history of serving all who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Bexar County with its “people helping people” approach. The credit union has been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for innovative, award-winning services that reach out to everyone in the community as they work toward their financial goals.
