Redwood Credit Union exceeds United Way campaign goal

RCU’s Employee Giving Campaign Contributes Over $96,000 to Local United Way

SANTA ROSA, CA (October 1, 2013)Redwood Credit Union (RCU) recently completed their 2013 United Way workplace giving campaign with total contributions of over $96,000, exceeding their campaign goal of $95,000.

“I’m so proud of the amazing support our employees and Officials show year after year for our annual United Way fundraising campaign,” said RCU President & CEO Brett Martinez. “For the fifteenth consecutive year, we have exceeded our campaign goal, exemplifying the dedication our staff and Officials to our communities.”

The Credit Union offered several unique incentives to encourage employees to contribute: prize raffles, casual days, smoothie parties and more. RCU’s campaign efforts support both United Way of the Wine Country, and United Way of the Bay Area.

In addition to supporting with monetary contributions, RCU employees recently volunteered in 4 counties for the United Way’s Day/Week of Caring. In Sonoma County, volunteers helped to clean up Children’s Village, which provides nurturing for children in foster care; in Marin, they helped garden at Homeward Bound, a support center for the homeless; in Mendocino, they refinished picnic tables and planted flowers for the Boys & Girls Club; and in Napa, RCU helped restore native grasslands at Archer Taylor Farm.

Redwood Credit Union employees and volunteer Officials participate in the United Way campaign annually to contribute funds for local non-profits across two United Way chapters: United Way of the Wine Country and United Way of the Bay Area. Because the Credit Union serves Members in multiple North Bay counties and San Francisco, the contributions benefit people in all the communities RCU serves, including Sonoma, Mendocino, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, Lake and Solano Counties.

In addition to United Way, RCU supports a variety of non-profits and community efforts including the American Red Cross, local volunteer centers, and the Sonoma, Marin, and Mendocino County Human Races.

Founded in 1950, RCU is a full-service financial cooperative, offering competitive financial products and services to fulfill consumer and small business financial needs, including checking and savings accounts, consumer and mortgage lending, credit cards, investments, business services, insurance and more.
