Regional Small Asset Credit Union Conference emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and shared solutions

Columbia, MD (October 8, 2025) |

Credit unions leaders came together in the spirit of collaboration and community at last week’s Small Asset Credit Union Regional Conference, co-hosted by the MD|DC Credit Union Association and the CrossState Credit Union Association at First Financial Federal Credit Union in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland.

More than 35 credit union leaders attended. The event focused on the range of unique challenges faced by credit unions with assets up to $150 million, from managing limited resources to keeping teams motivated and members engaged.

Sessions explored:

  • Emerging industry trends
  • A case study on two credit unions joining forces to solve a staffing challenge
  • Ways to deepen member loyalty and strengthen relationships
  • Creative approaches to investing in workplace culture on a budget

The day wrapped up with a networking reception, giving participants a chance to unwind and connect.

“The level of engagement and collaboration was impressive,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO, MD|DC Credit Union Association. “Small credit unions are incredibly innovative. When they come together to share ideas, you can feel the collective strength of the movement. I was honored to be part of the conference.”

Patrick Conway, President and CEO of the CrossState Credit Union Association, added, “This event underscored how vital collaboration remains within our credit union community. Small credit unions are innovative, dedicated to their members, and by uniting their efforts, they’re paving the way for continued growth and success.”
