RelyOn Credit Union awards Uplift Academy student
RelyOn Credit Union has awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Uplift Education class of 2020 student Khylan Brown.
RelyOn Credit Union partnered with Uplift Education to identify student that best represented RelyOn’s core values as well showed a financial need. “We value education as the solid foundation on which our futures are built.
This scholarship is one small way we can help Khylan achieve that,” said Sarah Spooner, chief executive officer for RelyOn.
Brown will attend Morehouse College this fall to study biology, and eventually wants to become a physician. “Kylan’s commitment to a career in medicine has not waivered even in the midst of this pandemic. In fact, it has only fueled his commitment and readiness to start.
I know that this scholarship is truly going to make the difference in him being able to attend Morehouse and achieve those goals,” stated Cara Jesse, Brown’s Uplift College Counselor. With typically celebratory measures not being available this year, Brown was surprised in a drive-thru announcement that he received the scholarship plus an additional $500 to help buy an additional tech he will need for college.
