Royal Credit Union sends emerging leader to Crash the GAC

EAU CLAIRE, WI (February 16, 2022) — Royal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Kaitlin Lutsey has been selected to attend “Crash the GAC” 2022 by The Cooperative Trust and Credit Union National Association (CUNA) to represent the Wisconsin Credit Union League. Lutsey will join over 50 young professional leaders and thousands of credit union advocates for the year’s biggest credit union event, the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) held in Washington, D.C. from February 27- March 3.

“I’m excited to join fellow young professionals to Crash the GAC,” Lutsey said. “I’m looking forward to talking to lawmakers about the issues important to credit unions in order to strengthen our ability to best serve our Members and communities. In addition, I know I will enjoy experiencing the event and making new connections within the credit union movement.”

Selected through a highly competitive process, emerging leaders experience a non-stop, career-changing program that allows them to participate in the industry’s largest advocacy conference. This year’s speaker lineup includes Filene CEO Mark Meyer, National Credit Union Foundation Executive Director Gigi Hyland, CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle, authors Andy Janning and Antonio Neves, and an exclusive session with Chad Helminak and Leo Ardine titled Building our Capacity for Empathy.

“The Cooperative Trust is thrilled to welcome a new group of emerging leaders to Crash the GAC in 2022,” said Filene’s Community Development Director, Cortney Angeley. “This group of rising professionals are change leaders in our industry and it’s an honor to witness the evolution of leadership and culture taking place. We know these Crashers will bring spirit, passion, and hopefully a little bit of good fun and disruption to CUNA GAC.”

“I’m proud Kaitlin was selected to be Wisconsin’s crasher at CUNA GAC 2022,” said Brandon Riechers, Royal Credit Union President & CEO. “Kaitlin is currently serving as Royal’s Young Professional Credit Union Activist. She attends events with lawmakers to communicate the issues that are important to young professionals and has earned her seat at the table. I know Kaitlin will do an outstanding job representing Royal and the state of Wisconsin at this important credit union event.”

The 2022 class of GAC Crashers includes 51 emerging credit union leaders representing diverse roles, experiences and backgrounds across 47 states. Crash the GAC is brought to you by The Cooperative Trust from Filene Research Institute and is made possible by the generous support of CUNA, and with help from League partners.
