RTN Federal Credit Union and RTN GoodWorks Foundation co-sponsored and presented a virtual “Basics of Money Management” financial education seminar for 15 Africano Waltham summer interns on August 12. Africano Waltham, formally known as African Cultural Services Inc., serves youth and families from Africa, primarily Uganda, who have emigrated to the U.S. and live in Waltham.
The seminar introduced financial concepts, and topics included how to manage money you earn, how to plan for future earnings and how to think about future debt.
“With many of our students earning money this summer, it is important for them to learn financial literacy skills and how to use money wisely,” says Juliet Najjumba, Director of African Cultural Services, Inc. (ACS). "We are grateful to RTN for providing this valuable educational opportunity to our young people. This knowledge will help them take charge of their financial futures.”
Founded in 2011, RTN GoodWorks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public charitable foundation that fosters financial wellness, and promotes financial literacy and community involvement. The Foundation’s activities are focused in communities where RTN Federal Credit Union branches are located, and are funded through its annual Golf Tournament as well as appeals to membership and community partners.
