RTN staff read to Waltham School Children as part of literacy programs

Staff from RTN Federal Credit Union volunteered at two Waltham public elementary schools to read to students this past week.

WALTHAM, MA (March 7, 2018) — On February 26, RTN staff distributed and read books to first graders at the Douglas MacArthur Elementary School as part of the Share the Magic & the Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team’s Read with Malcolm Literacy Program. RTN is a long-time supporter of the Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team, a public service activity for the credit union community, and one of the country’s largest credit union collaborative fundraising programs.

On March 2, RTN staff volunteered to read at the Northeast School as part of the Dr. Seuss Read Across America event. “The students in each classroom were excited to have special guests read to them and enjoyed the books the readers brought with them,” commented Jennifer Gershon, Literacy Coach/Reading Specialist at Northeast Elementary School. “Students were overheard in the lunchroom and at recess talking about how much they enjoyed the stories from their guest readers. One third grader even exclaimed, ‘This was the best day ever!’”
