San Francisco Federal Credit Union and SF JAZZ celebrate ICU Day with surprise “Jazz Mob”

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 23, 2013) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member- owned financial institution serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, celebrated International Credit Union Day on October 17 with a surprise “jazz mob” in partnership with SFJAZZ, a nonprofit organization that works to develop the audience for jazz in the Bay Area.

The jazz mob featured three members of SFJAZZ’s High School All-Stars, a group comprising some of the most talented young musicians in the nation. The trio played an unannounced set outside San Francisco Federal Credit Union’s Financial District Branch, attracting the attention of passersby.

“We do something completely original for ICU Day this year,” said Lara Brecher, Business Development Officer at San Francisco Federal Credit Union and one of the creative forces behind the jazz mob. “Our partnership with the talented musicians and organizers at SFJAZZ provided the inspiration.”

San Francisco Federal Credit Union plans to release compiled video footage of the jazz mob via its website and social-media channels in the coming weeks. In addition to the jazz mob, the Credit Union also featured a High School All-Star soloist at its main branch in San Francisco’s Civic Center. The Credit Union also offered refreshments and giveaways at each of its four branches.

“We’re thrilled with the feedback we’ve received for this year’s ICU Day celebration, and we plan to host more events like this in the future,” said Brecher. “San Francisco Federal Credit Union and SFJAZZ share a common goal of educating and engaging the Bay Area, and we look forward to our next collaboration.”
