San Francisco Federal Credit Union Awards Scholarships to Bay Area Students

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 9, 2013) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution serving the San Francisco community, has awarded four $2,000 scholarships to four college-bound Bay Area students.

The four scholarship winners are:

  • Sander Chu, attending the University of California, Berkeley, to study economics;
  • Lukas Froehlich, attending the University of California, Davis, to study physics;
  • Liam Lynch, attending the University of San Francisco to study English; and
  • Mark Young, attending the University of California, Berkeley, to study math.

“We strongly believe in fostering excellence in our local students,” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of San Francisco Federal Credit Union. “Our scholarship program has awarded more than $60,000 to incoming college freshman in the Bay Area since 2000.”

San Francisco Federal Credit Union awards scholarships based on applicants’ academic achievement, personal integrity and active participation at their schools and in their local communities. Scholarships are offered each year to youth members for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

“San Francisco Federal Credit Union congratulates these four students on their success,” said Stapp. “We look forward to seeing these students continue to do great things.”
