San Francisco Federal Credit Union raises $6,000 in charitable donations in September

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 11, 2013) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, raised nearly $6,000 in charitable donations during the month of September.

The Credit Union raised funds for three organizations: Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Susan G. Komen®. Staff members participated and donated as part of the Credit Union’s CommunityShare program.

“As the Bay Area’s credit union, we place a great deal of importance on involvement in our local community,” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of San Francisco Federal Credit Union. “Our CommunityShare program has raised thousands of dollars for causes dear to the hearts of our employees, our members and our region.”

Twenty-six employees participated in the San Francisco Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on September 17. The Credit Union raised $3,240 for the organization.

The Credit Union raised $260 for Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland in honor of Miracle Jeans Day on September 18. Fifty-two staff members traded their work attire for jeans to help raise funds for children at the hospital.

On September 29, nineteen employees participated in the Susan G. Komen San Francisco Bay Area Race for the Cure®. The Credit Union raised a total of $2,300 for the cause.

“We care deeply about our community causes, and our active participation and charitable contributions reflect that,” said Stapp. “We’re honored to support these organizations.”
