San Francisco Federal Credit Union spends weekend beautifying SF

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 2, 2015) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, was one of the many organizations who volunteered time on Saturday, January 31, to SF Giant Sweep’s Community Clean Team.

Eighteen volunteers from San Francisco Federal Credit Union spent four hours landscaping, beautifying neighborhoods, and removing graffiti from areas in the city. While many volunteers worked on landscaping a senior housing community, others worked at a skate park to remove graffiti.

The Community Clean Team has joined San Francisco Public Works for 15 years, working on various projects across District 6 of San Francisco. Projects include, landscaping, park beautification, repairing public furniture, removing graffiti, and planting. Also in attendance were Supervisor Kim and Mayor Lee who began the event with some motivational words for the volunteers.

The Community Clean Team event was one of the first to kick-off San Francisco FCU’s CommunityShare Program for 2015. Through the CommunityShare Program, the Credit Union gives back to causes in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties through employee volunteerism, donations, and fundraising activities. Already this year, San Francisco Federal Credit Union has donated over $14,800 dollars and almost 60 volunteer hours to community causes.

As San Francisco FCU works toward their goal of donating $120,000 and more than 900 volunteer hours to the community in 2015, you can track their progress on their Facebook page, or keep up-to-date with the program on their website, SanFranciscoFCU.com.
