SC Telco Federal Credit Union Wins Two State Awards

GREENVILLE, SC (August 28, 2013) — SC Telco Federal Credit Union in Greenville, SC, won first place in the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility and were first runner-up for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award in their asset category.

The awards, sponsored by the South Carolina Credit Union League, were presented by League President Steve Fowler (center) to Board Chairman Steve Griffin and Board Member Joy Owens at the Leadership Conference in Hilton Head, SC, on August 17, 2013.

SC Telco won the Social Responsibility Award for its fundraising and building efforts with Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County early this year.  The Youth Financial Education Award was for a project in which credit union staff visited 2nd grade classrooms to read books dealing with financial education.  The staffers then left the bag filled with grade level appropriate books   behind for the students to enjoy while building their reading skills.

SC Telco Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1935 and is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with over 40,000 members and has $258 million in assets. Headquartered in Greenville, SC, the credit union has branches in Easley, Spartanburg, Columbia and Florence.
