Scott Credit Union Wins National Marketing Award

Scott Credit Union received a national honor recently garnering a Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Diamond Award for marketing. The award was presented at the annual CUNA Marketing & Business Development Conference.

The Diamond Award represents the pinnacle of credit union marketing in more than 30 categories ranging from direct mail and web site marketing to public relations and political action. Judges evaluated over 1,100 entries based on strategy, design and production, creative concept, copy and communication, and results.

Scott Credit Union won a Diamond Award for its Take The Pledge program that aims to help adults learn how to become more financially fit. The year-long program encourages SCU members to create and follow a budget and encourages them to attend free financial education seminars offered at the local credit union, according to SCU Chief Marketing Officer Adam Koishor.

“We really got a great response to the program in its first year,” Koishor said. “We are very pleased with the interest to learn more about how to be financially successful. The program culminated with one participant getting a boost to their savings with a $1,000 certificate prize.”

The Take The Pledge program is one of several financial education programs the credit union has implemented in recent years.

“Getting the Diamond Award is a tremendous honor,” Koishor said. “We were really excited to win the award among the many credit unions from throughout the country that entered. We are really proud of our staff and the impressive work that they are doing.”

The credit union has increased its community involvement and financial education over the past few years while also increasing its efforts to educate consumers on the value of doing their financial business with a not-for-profit credit union.

“We want people in the area to know more about the value of doing business with a credit union,” Koishor added. “Our community involvement helps us spread that message. It’s extremely important now at a time when people are looking for an alternative that offers them a better value.”

Scott Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is member owned. The credit union gave about $1.2 million back to members through a bonus dividend and loan interest rebate at the end of 2012.

Scott Credit Union is open to anyone who lives or works in a 17 county area, including Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph, Perry, Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Clinton, Marion, Bond, Macoupin, Montgomery, Fayette, Effingham, Williamson, and Jackson counties.
