Scott Witherspoon Joins Affinity Federal Credit Union as Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer
BASKING RIDGE & WEST MILFORD, NJ (May 29, 2013) West Milford resident Scott Witherspoon has joined the executive management team of Affinity Federal Credit Union, New Jersey’s largest credit union, headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J. Witherspoon will serve as senior vice president, chief credit officer.
“Scott is a business-savvy financial strategist with over 30 years of experience as an executive leader in the financial services industry,” noted John T. Fenton, Affinity president & CEO. “In his new role, he will be responsible for the overall growth and success of Affinity’s consumer and business lending, loan servicing and member care business units.”
Witherspoon comes to Affinity from Morgan Stanley where he served for over 20 years, most recently as managing director, credit risk management. In his roles with Morgan Stanley, Witherspoon was responsible for approving and managing U.S. credit risk on a full array of lending programs serving clients of the firm’s Global Wealth Management Group.
While there, he also contributed to two chapters in the book: The Morgan Stanley Guide to Personal Investing by Robert Gardiner, former chairman and CEO of Dean Witter Financial Services Group.
Additionally, Witherspoon was responsible for all Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) wholesale lending for Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A. and Morgan Stanley Private Bank, N.A. focused on both affordable housing and economic development. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he served as senior vice president, Private Banking division for Summit Bank and vice president, Private Banking division for Commercial Trust Company.
Witherspoon earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. His securities licenses include a Series 3, 7, 8, 24, 31, 63 and 65.
