SECU – FAFSA Day Partnership Helps More Than 4,500 NC Students!

RALEIGH, NC – At more than 300 designated site locations, including college campuses and State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) offices, over 4,500 North Carolina high school seniors and their families recently received help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.  On February 23rd, SECU opened its doors in   all 248 statewide branches to support the FAFSA Day event sponsored by College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC), the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA) and SECU.  Credit Union employees helped students and parents complete and electronically submit FAFSA forms, a requirement to be considered for all federal and state financial aid for college, including scholarships and grants.  Numerous SECU branches reported record turnouts in the fifth consecutive year of FAFSA Day participation.

“Since 2009, State Employees’ Credit Union has been a key member of the FAFSA Day team,” said Robbie Schultz, of the NC State Education Assistance Authority and FAFSA Day coordinator.  “In addition to providing free FAFSA Day assistance to its members in all branch locations, SECU extends its service to non-members at branches in approximately 40 counties with no college FAFSA Day sites.  This ensures that FAFSA Day services are available in all 100 counties of our State.”
