SECU receives honorable mention in Ragan’s Workplace Wellness Awards

Maryland’s largest credit union was recognized in the Outstanding Wellness Program: Mid-Size Organization category

LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, MD (May 2, 2022) — SECU, Maryland’s largest state-chartered credit union, announced today that it has received an Honorable Mention in the “Outstanding Wellness Program: Mid-Size Organization” category in Ragan’s Workplace Wellness Awards.

Ragan’s Workplace Wellness Awards, which benchmark the most effective corporate well-being programs worldwide, recognize initiatives that are translating into a more productive, engaged and healthy workforce. The awards also recognize the individuals and teams who champion their employees and are behind these successful initiatives.

SECU received the Honorable Mention for BeWell, a multifaceted initiative providing a variety of resources, programs, and tools to support the holistic well-being of SECU’s employees. BeWell launched via an internal campaign that included a landing page and weekly emails to employees highlighting relevant topics to SECU, its communities and the world at large, such as pandemic updates and tips to improve mental, emotional, physical and financial well-being.

As part of BeWell, SECU launched several interactive programs to encourage employee participation and support including the annual Wellness Challenge, a four-week-long program that focuses on a different area of well-being each week. Winners of each challenge were awarded gift cards and showcased in the BeWell newsletter. SECU also organized a BeWellness Club consisting of wellness champions who worked together to develop additional ideas to inspire and engage their peers, such as promoting a healthy snack of the month, hosting a fitness session, and creating a new wellness challenge.

“At SECU, our number one asset is our employees. We place them at the heart of everything we do, and we understand their well-being is paramount to achieving our goals. With a healthy workforce, our employees are more engaged, productive and able to deliver world-class service to our members and positively impact the communities we serve,” said Teshia Davis, Vice President of People at SECU. “We are incredibly proud of our BeWell initiative and continue to look for ways to help our employees achieve a balanced mind, body and soul both professionally and personally.”

Ragan’s Workplace Wellness Awards were open to organizations worldwide and judged by a panel of industry experts. To view the complete list of honorees, visit https://raganwellness.com/awards/workplace-wellness-awards/2021/winners/#winners.
