Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $2,500 to Catholic Charities of Central Colorado to expand Life Skills Career and Development Center

Donation to fund new work station to serve client growth

Security Service Charitable Foundation is donating $2,500 to help Catholic Charities of Central Colorado (CCCC) expand their Life Skills Career and Development Center (LSCDC). Funds will specifically go towards the addition of a work station to increase their ability to grow from serving 10-12 clients per day to 18-20; a remarkable 60% growth.

“Thanks to the Security Service Charitable Foundation, we are now able to open our doors to assist more people who are transitioning to a life of self-sufficiency,” said Catherine Felsmann, development and grants officer for Catholic Charities of Central Colorado. “This is especially important for individuals with low incomes, those who are at-risk and many whom are experiencing homelessness.”

Founded in 1968, CCCC is a human service organization and the charitable arm of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. They deliver services throughout 10 counties, with a focus on El Paso County. Through coordinated case management at their LSCDC, they serve the most vulnerable members of the community and provide a gateway to housing and jobs as well as a menu of basic needs assistance and services geared toward building resiliency and self-sufficiency.

“Security Service Federal Credit Union is honored to provide Catholic Charities of Central Colorado a donation to increase the amount of people they are able to serve on a daily basis in their Life Skills and Career Center,” said Derrick Aguilar, senior vice president of member service–Mountain Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We know finding stable employment is often the first step in financial security. Without the Life Skills and Career Development Center, many individuals in Central Colorado, would not get the help they need to find sustaining employment.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas that better the community and help to improve the quality of life.
