Seven new TDECU branches open in Houston
HOUSTON, TX (November 26, 2013) — TDECU has announced seven new branches are open for business in Greater Houston, bringing the total number of TDECU branches located in the area to 19. Overall, TDECU operates 32 branches. The bank branches were acquired by TDECU, this past summer, in an unprecedented move that saw the first time a state chartered credit union purchase bank branches with the intent to reopen them as credit unions. Before their purchase, the bank branches were designated for closure. TDECU recognized an opportunity to grow its presence into key areas in Houston where it has existing members and offer them greater access to its services.
Following the purchase, the acquired bank branches underwent remerchandising and received new signage and ATMs, among other upgrades and changes. All former bank employees, at the affected locations, were offered employment with TDECU, and received additional training on credit union procedures and processes, as well as training on TDECU’s customized customer service standards. Former bank customers, in jeopardy of losing their neighborhood financial partner, were offered the opportunity to join TDECU and take advantage of the many benefits of becoming a credit union member.
